It was really a very hectic last quarter of the year that I haven't shared most of my adventures lately. Here is one event last November 22, 2008 that I hardly missed every year. The Annual Filipino Komik Convention is a gathering I always attend because in this event I enjoy shopping for things I really love which is comic books. Though I really don't go early because I can easily get tired during this events, I see to it that I will meet all my iconic comic idols in the event and have my copies signed.
First I dropped by the Bayan Knights booth. For those who don't know Bayan Knights, it is a colaborative title by several artists all over the country. I contributed one character for the title and I'm really excited to see my character be immortalized on a comicbook. Headed by Gilbert "Sarge" Monsanto, Bayan Knights gave a good impression to the convention goers. Bayan Knights became the talk of the event and people are starting to buy the comicbook. It is also my first time to be asked for an autograph. It is indeed a different sensation.
After dropping by the Bayan Knights, I go straight to the DAMEAT booth to say hi to my friends. They've got good stuff to sell right now and one of us had already finished an indie. Good for him.

Arnold Arre The Ultimate Idol
And after that, I spend the rest of my stay looking for good buys and hunting for my idols. I first saw Budjette Tan (Trese and Batch 72) and I bought a copy of Kadiliman and The Last Datu. Then I went to Gerry Alanguilan's booth to get the 4th and final installment of Elmer. After that I met the funny guy Pol Medina Jr. and I asked him to sign my Pugad Baboy 20. Then I'm starstrucked when I saw Leinil Yu. It is indeed my lucky day because I bring with me my copies of Secret Invasion. Then I dropped by the Point Zero booth to buy a copy of Digmaang Salinlahi #6 and Kubori Strips for the soul and let Jon Zamar and David sign my copies. Then finally the one person I'm waiting every single Komikon that I attend, Arnold Arre arrived with his wife Cynthia. I approached him immediately and asked him to sign my copies of Mythology Class, Private Iris and his latest Graphic Novel Martial Law Babies.
Now who said Komikon is boring. For a Komiks fan like me, Komikon is a wonderland. Looking forward for Komikon 2009.
Getting Ready for a very busy 2009
It is really very tiring day, even though I only stayed for a couple of hours. Before leaving the event I went to Carlo Vergara's (One Night in Purgatory and ZsaZsa Zaturnnah) booth and bid him goodbye. And before I left he said that other than the book 2 of Zsazsa Zaturnnah, something will be announced before the year ends. And I think I know what it is.Now who said Komikon is boring.
