Welcome to Zombieland: A Movie Review

2009 is great year to everyone and of course also to me.  A lot of good movies that kept me entertained the whole year round.  With Avatar, I can say that the last minutes of my 2009 has the best closing ever.  And now, here is 2010 and I'm very excited to announce to everyone that we got a bunch of good movie lined up this year.  And let's start with Ruben Fleischer's Zombieland.

Zombieland is a post apocalyptic Zombie flick where the whole world is already crawling with meat eating and blood thirsty Zombies.  Tallahassee (Harrelson) together with Columbus (Eisenberg), Wichita (Stone) and Little Rock (Breslin) embarked on a road trip across states to a theme park believed to be Zombie Free.  Sounds like your average Zombie movie right?  But WRONG.  Zombieland is more than that.

This movie is different to other Zombie flick because it uses humor as its main device.  All of us inside the theater is laughing our lungs out.  The hilarity is overwhelming.  Specially the unexpected cameo appearance of a Hollywood celebrity.  That is really an epic.  But despite the humor, Zombieland is still as sick as any Zombie movie out there.  The movie also avoided using too much characters and stick with only four which is I believe a good choice to give the movie enough time to give every character a good build up.

Where can you see a movie with a boy obsessed with making rules to survive, two equally charming con artist sisters and a middle aged guy who hunts for the last Twinkie (a sweet pastry) on Earth rolled together on a military equipped Hummer while smashing and hitting Zombies on the road?  They don't even use real names on the film and used names of places (Colombus, Wichita, Beverly Hills etc.), though watch out for Wichita's real name when she reveals it on the ending sequence.

Zombieland is a great movie to start 2010 and could be one of the badass flick I ever watched.  Harrelson did a very good job making us laugh and Emma Stone is really hot as a zombie slayer.  Two thumbs up for Fleischer.  Watch it this coming January, distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.
