With trailer scheduled for release this coming Thursday, FOX released the very first 5 seconds first look from the upcoming Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
Set in present-day San Francisco, RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES reveals the origins of a war that ultimately led to a global apocalypse – and to Earth becoming the Planet of the Apes. The Oscar-winning visual effects team that brought to life the worlds of Avatar and Lord of the Rings is taking on its most ambitious challenge, creating for the first time a non-human CGI character that delivers a dramatic performance with real emotion and intelligence.
The film stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Tom Felton, David Oyelowo and Andy Serkis as Caesar. Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark are producing for Chernin Entertainment under its pact with Fox. Rupert Wyatt is directing from a screenplay by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, who are also producing.
Unlike the previous film by Tim Burton, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" characters will be created entirely on CGI by WETA digital, the studio responsible for the award winning special effects of Lord of the Rings Trilogy, King Kong and Avatar. With the look of this preview, I think WETA just created the most realistic digital actor ever made on the history of American films. Excited to see more from this film.
Despite the bad reviews against Tim Burton's "Planet of the Apes", personally I like it. Burton's dark and surreal approach on films never fail to amuse me. Now that this film is promising something much better, I really hope that it will deliver what people are expecting from it.
