Mamma Mia! in Manila on January 24 2012

After the big success of Cats, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stomp, Lunchbox Theatrical is back once again with a worldwide hit that will relive one of the most well celebrated musical in the industry.  Marking their 10th Anniversary last month, Manila let's all welcome Mamma Mia!

Inspired by the music of legendary 70's group ABBA, Mamma Mia! is a tale about a bride to be and her quest for the identity of her real father.  With the help of her mother's diary, she found out that there are three men on her mother's past that are possibly her dad.  Everything takes an unexpected turn of event when the three gentlemen actually appears outside their door each invited for the upcoming wedding ceremony.

To be honest, the movie version is my least favorite among all the musical movies I saw before.  For me it lacks energy and it didn't connect to me that well.  Don't get me wrong, the actors did a very good job on the acting side but I guess how the whole movie is constructed didn't really work well for me.  Now I saw the videos of live performances, I may say that it looks much better compared to the film.  It is more lively and spirited.

But I still need to see the whole show to give my final verdict.  And maybe all of you must do the same.  Mark your calendars, as the touring cast of Mamma Mia! hits Manila next year, January 24, 2012 to February 19 to be staged at the CCP Nicanor Abelardo Theater (Main Theater).

All tickets are available at all TicketWorld outlets, selected National Bookstore branches, Robinsons Department Store (Galleria, Malate, Metro East, Festival Mall & Starmill Pampanga), and Ayala Center (Greenbelt 1, Glorietta 4, and Trinoma Mall Cinema Booths) and TicketWorld Office at 6793 Ayala Avenue, Suite 701 V.
