The Wolverine is not a Prequel!!! + Details on Live Chat

So fans have been giving The Wolverine mixed reactions probably because of the messed up X-Men Origins plot.  But just yesterday, Director James Mangold, through Empire magazine revealed a tiny bit of info but definitely a big game changer for the movie: The Wolverine is not a Prequel.

"Where this film sits in the universe of the films is after them all. Jean Grey is gone, most of the X-Men are disbanded or gone, so there’s a tremendous sense of isolation for him."

source: Hewitt, Chris (October 25, 2012) Empire Magazine.

James Mangold actually don't want to be restrained of something that already happens in the future. So he really prefer doing something after a certain franchise. Good move in my opinion. And it also makes sense because the story this movie is based is indeed set on events after Logan met the X-Men, so it just makes sense if they will follow that idea. This also gave more light about a certain report about Famke Janssen, flying to Australia to shoot a cameo as Jean Grey. I can actually see that it is more sensible now and it may play directly connected to the next X-Men film (Days of Future Past). If we are lucky, we may find Hugh Jackman appearing again on that film with Famke and Patrick Stewart (Professor X).

Furthermore The Wolverine will be having a Live Chat soon with the Director himself, James Mangold and the movie's star Hugh Jackman. Here are the video invite and some more details about the live chat.
